AES-256

Symmetric block cipher; against Grover, 256-bit keys are the usual long-term recommendation.

Definition

AES is a symmetric algorithm, not broken by Shor’s factoring/discrete-log approach. Grover’s algorithm can speed brute force, which is why AES-256 is preferred for long-term strength.

Symmetric crypto still depends on how keys are established—often via classical public-key TLS that does need PQC/hybrid upgrades.
