OCSP

Also known as: Online Certificate Status Protocol

Online Certificate Status Protocol—checks whether a certificate has been revoked.

Definition

OCSP responders sign status responses so clients can learn if a certificate is revoked. Stapling can attach status to the TLS handshake.

Revocation infrastructure uses classical signatures today and does not replace short-lived certificates or PQC migration.
