Private key
Secret key material that authorizes signatures or decryption—compromise means loss of control.

Private keys must stay confidential. Quantum attacks that recover private keys from public keys are the core CRQC threat to classical public-key crypto.
Operational controls (HSMs, MPC, hardware wallets) reduce classical theft but do not change the mathematical hardness of the algorithm itself.
