Verdict
As a chain, Cronos should be modeled via its authorization cryptography—not market narratives. Cronos is not quantum-proof. It is an EVM chain with classical secp256k1 user signatures; exchange and custody rails need equal attention.
Overview
Cronos (CRO) is included in Wave 6a as a top-market-cap L1 / native smart-chain target. This page is the chain cryptography profile.
Cronos brings EVM smart contracts into the Crypto.com ecosystem narrative. Cryptographically, user EOAs are classical secp256k1—same quantum category as other EVM L1s.
Because CRO is tightly associated with exchange distribution, operational custody may outweigh on-chain nuances for many holders.

- Classical signatures authorizing CRO value movement under Shor-class adversaries once public keys are known
- Custodial hot wallets and exchange operational keys
- Bridges or wrapped representations with concentrated signers (if used)
- EVM admin/upgrade keys on critical contracts

- Inventory every key that can move CRO (self-custody, exchange, multisig)
- Prefer multiparty / hardware policies for treasuries
- Document bridges and wrapped asset paths
- Track ecosystem PQC research; do not assume branding equals deployment
